Chelsea 'made a mistake not signing Cristiano Ronaldo', claims William Gallas
William Gallas thinks that Chelsea will be regretting not signing Cristiano Ronaldo when the forward was available last season.
Ronaldo fell out of favour at Old Trafford under new manager Erik ten Hag during the early stages of the 2022/23 campaign.
An explosive interview with Piers Morgan made his position untenable and his contract was terminated by 'mutual agreement' soon after.
Chelsea were one of the favourites to sign the superstar free agent but he ultimately made a big money move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr.
The Blues have endured a miserable time of it since then with a lack of goals a key problem. Ronaldo, meanwhile, was the highest scorer in football last year.
And Gallas thinks he could have really helped Chelsea had he gone there instead of Al-Nassr.
'Chelsea made a mistake by not signing Cristiano Ronaldo,' he said, speaking to Genting Casino.
'He was available to sign and Chelsea would have been a good club for him.
'Everyone knows how important Ronaldo can be in the dressing room, he brings a winning mentality and it could have benefited the squad. It was a mistake by Chelsea.'
Gallas also believes Nicolas Jackson needs to deliver in the final months of the season or he will see himself being replaced.
'We have to see how many goals Nicolas Jackson will score, he has eight at the moment,' the Frenchman added.
'If Jackson cannot reach 15 Premier League goals or more, then Chelsea need a top striker, because at the moment they don't have it.
